It is not easy to be amazed, it takes something very special. We have a few things to show you.
Think of a low power reader that is responsive, has good read range, and interfaces into a broad range of equipment. Perhaps you will be thinking of a reader that will use a few tens of mW of power. It would be reasonable to think of a 15mW reader as very low power, after all, most readers draw 40mA and are supplied at 12volts and that comes to 480mW. By this token a reader with just 15mW would indeed justify a low power tittle. Not good enough! Let us take a quantum leap, in fact another three decades quantum leap.
ID-Innovations ultra-low power reader modules consume just 14uW. That is not a typo, it draws just 5¦ÌA at 2.8volts. It is not just a low power reader, it is a technology breakthrough. Our micro power module will run for 5 years on a 3volt watch battery. There are so many new uses for this new type of reader that it transforms the uses of RFID.
You may assume the new technology is expensive. Not at all, it is smart technology and we do not charge for that. It is just one of our range of inexpensive reader modules. The ultra-low power module is shown below fitted in our uP demo kit.
The next two readers are amazing because in the view of the experts they were impossible. Obviously that was not the case it was in fact that the problems were structured in an impossible way by traditional thinking. If doing the impossible interests you, read on.
The standard EM 64 bit card is not an anti-collision card. Anti-collision cards have special algorithms that allow the reader interrogate each card individually and read the card data. A read is only possible if only a single card in a field of several is transmitting. If several cards are transmitting at the same time the data collides and corrupts, hence the general term for a reader that can control and read multiple cards is ¡®Anti-collision Reader¡¯.These readers simply do not allow more than a single card to transmit at the same time.
Now turn the problem on its head and think of a reader that works as a ¡®Collision¡¯ reader. It accepts and reads all the cards that want to talk at the same time, after all, people do it without thinking, so why not a reader? It is clearly not a question of impossibility it is a question of method and complexity. Aptly the processors we use are known as CORTEX processors and they are very, very fast indeed.
Once again, consider that it is easy for people to take in two conversations at the same time. It is virtually effortless. We separate the conversations without even thinking. The secret to getting a card reader to read several cards at the same time, up to 7 in fact, is lots of processes, parallel processes, simplicity of each process, lots of memory and very high speed that taken together and done correctly turns something seemingly complex into something relatively simple, well relatively simple. Opposite is a picture of our iX5, the reader that does the impossible.
The final reader of the three is the HID EM reader module. While it does not have the same ¡®Wow¡¯ factor as the previous two readers it is an amazing bit of technology in its own right,an industry first and well worth inclusion. The problem was to integrate two incompatible systems, yet we achieved this without any compromise in read range. So we hope that a high performance dual system module measuring only 25mmx25mm will impress you. Its level of ¡®impossibility¡¯ can judged by the fact that no other manufacturer has been able to achieve this.
The ID-22 is a 9v ¨C 27v low power industrial probe reader for popular EM4001 format 125KHz tags and is encapsulated for environmental protection. Read ranges of up to 18cm are possible with ID-Innovations long range cards and up to 28mm with 13mm glass tags. The ID-22 features ASCII, Wiegand26, and Magnetic ABA Track2 output formats. The ID-22 provides solutions for industrial control and logistics.
